Another Reader Comments on Toronto’s “Kleenex Mafia”

Your humble narrator has arrived safely in New York, and ready to resume the mock. Checking my in-box, Toronto’s raging douche plague Typhoid Marys, The Kleenex Mafia, have provoked Craig to write in:

————
DB1,

This type of toilet bowl fungus, and their ilk, have become a blight upon what was once a fine city. I left ten years ago, at the first sign of what may very well have been the harbinger of this current Kleenex Mafia pudwankery.

A sad state of affairs to say the least. And with the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the city’s most carbon neutral events, these hoitytoity types are sure to be out, doing whatever it is they do, and making a general nuisance of themselves.

Send your corespondent down to The Drake during this upcoming orgy of conspicious douchebaggery, I think that is where the mothership will be docked. It’s far enough away from ground zero, Bay and Bloor Sts., to take advantage of cheaper parking rates, but still crawling with DB wankers and their ‘botoxed stiff” arm candy. Hey, whatever floats your boat!

Regards, from well north of Toronto,
Craig

I wonder if I should be concerned that these might be the guys?

Fortunately, she’s so hot I don’t think I actually care…

Let’s chalk this up to being too far away from humanity up there in America’s toupee or their britches are too tight and it’s skewering their thought process.

This makes me sad. I was in Toronto about three years ago and I was enchanted. I had not yet considered ever leaving America, but I could definitely see myself living in Toronto. Seeing now that it’s just a replication of the lakefront pudwackery that became my Sweet Home Chicago, my heart aches. Oh, how I long for a box of Timbits and to marvel at the architecture, without the squawking of Bleeth and the pec-thumping of Douchebags to spoil it.

Well, I live in Toronto, and over the past year, there has been a marked rise in douchebaggery. It is unfortunate. The problem is, being a douchenozzle is a crime of “offence” and Canadians, being a remarkably polite bunch, simply say nothing in order to not offend.

Toronto is a very weird town – you can only buy booze at a liquor store, and these cannot be closer than 1 km to each other. As a consequence, te town is very quiet and remarkably low in crime.

If the douchebagery continues, then the thugs who associate with these tards will move in and then things will deteriorate.

Time will tell…

Have you ever been to a Leafs game? Seen the droves of non-swarthy canucks piling in at Biermarkt, Wayne Gretzky’s or crappy Brant House? Hell, there are so many hipsterbags whose ancestry dates back to the Loyalists. You should really get off that nativist kick and get out more.

As much as Toronto tries to establish an enduring character and identity, it will always be susceptible to macro pop culture fads and trends. The douchebaggery is no different. Trying to have an international appeal made Toronto the perfect petri plate for pudwankery. What’s the alternative? Fall back on the tried true elements of Canadian identity like rustic wilderness outdoorsy traits? It was not always like this, but there is a reason why international visitors keep thinking Toronto is the capital of Canada. Toronto tries really hard to stay current even if it means cultivating douchebags.

…in the king st clubs. i know there is a fair share of every type of feeble being in the city…but the nightclubs on king st. are mainly a more exotic walk of life. Almost all the trendy clubs and restaurants downtown are owned by middle easterns and east indians. i dont get out a lot but i get out enough. why would anyone want to go out in this poo stabbing fag central station from “do what you want” world. i hate the mentality here. if having standards, morals and taste is fascist then call me hitler. i dont care. Toronto FC is a bigger thing in this city now than the naval queefs. sure its bc we haven’t been a competitive hockey team in 6 years and then only half assed before that…but soccer is the “national” sport of this city now…and for an obvious reason. it’s also the most homo city in the world…more than san fran bc of all the blenders that are in this city.

foreigners think that the open mindedness of toronto is refreshing…it isn’t being open minded and accepting…it is cowardice and selfishness. people want to look out for themselves as much as possible and take no stance on anything that would have them stand out in a confrontation. the city is the biggest bunch of pussies out there. i could say anything to anyone and there would be no consequence and it happens all the time. usually it is people trying to be petty and cruel and maintain a cycle of victimization and i nip it in the bud. i’m life’s victim but nobody’s victim. it is very common here to be petty an try something on that would get you smacked in any big city in the states and shot in texas.

so the homos say…i should do anything i want, i’m allowed. and everyone here says ok blankly bc they fear taking a confrontational standpoint. then every other group does the same. then it is a city where anything goes. freedom is great. but it isn’t a great idea to not be able to critique races, religions and cultures. you dont have to generalize and thus be a racist or fascist, but you have to be able to critique and put some onus on a group to improve what is deficient within their group. It is called progress and responsible accountability, sociability and consideration. and yes that applies to jews as well. we cant criticize them anymore bc of the straw that broke the camel’s back shall we say. this standpoint in effect now licenses a group to do whatever they want and regulate themselves exclusively. that isn’t a great idea. there is no better way to create totalitarian regimes than to block outsiders from providing input.

if this city was so awesome and progressive then i would notice people not being such stereotypes here, which i do not. there are some great people here, intelligent, considerate, conscious, unique…but it is rare. it is present but honestly i dont know how you define consciousness but it is very rare here. people do not think for themselves. they think they do…but they do not in fact.

this city is the epitome of cowardly status quo. dont hurt me and i wont hurt you but if you hurt them and doing something about it will get me hurt, then forget it..leave me out of it. kitty genovese mentality.

at least in the states they realize they have to fight every day to keep a standard and a value alive and functional. I respect that even if it seems like bigotry to outsiders. there is a lot of usa bashing in canada. i think it is pathetic. without the states it would be a dark ages. europe is pretty much faded into a diluted continental vereniging martijn.

spain lost influence 500 yrs ago, france 200, england 100, italy…geez, considering they were the center of everything civilized and progressive for over 1000 years. i mean all these western countries are wealthy but none are hungry for global responsibility. usa is. good. bc i like being able to visit brazil, egypt, and east india and feel relatively safe. none of that would be the case if there was no global powerhouse.

its not fascist to see that people need to work on their weaknesses. they can work on their strengths too…it’s not like i don’t appreciate it. these people (whatever group we want to talk about) tend to have these strengths and these weaknesses…what is so fucked up, wrong and evil in believing that is an accurate statement?

fucking retards in toronto. and hardcore petty selfish cowards. maybe you need to get out more if you cant see it.

in 2009 there was not a single cop killed in Ontario in the line of duty. A great accolade perhaps. In 2010, two were murdered in cold blood. toronto, ontario and canada like to rest on their laurels and promote ourselves shamelessly. i find it pompous and arrogant. it is easy to point the finger at others but us canadians still have the stinky poo poo.

no more from me on canada and canadians. i believe i mentioned before i am willing to marry an american (even a man!) to let them access the health care given their need and in exchange would like to be able to live and work in the states. the states isn’t going anywhere. when the rest of the world is burning, america will build a big wall and keep going. i like the states, they seem genuinely concerned about monitoring themselves, criticizing themselves and getting better so that they can try to hold their head up high despite all humans being pretty pathetic. one day they will make it bc they dont think they are there. the english, french, canadians all think they are already there.

dont bother highlighting usa deficiencies and contradictions to my feelings. i know it already. just remember it is also the country that is under the microscope, the country to often try things out first and jump into the deep end and it is a massively populated country.

all countries are wack, i’d just move from canada to the states in a heartbeat. thats all.

CBS – you’re an asshole. I’m not saying you’re a bigot or a misogynist, or a clueless parochial moron with no sense of history. No no no – none of that. You’re just an honest to goodness straight up asshole.

I don’t want Canada to be more like the USA. I left the USA for a number of reasons (primarily professional) and am very happy to live in Toronto. For al; the caterwauling I got in San Francisco about how progressive SF was, there really is no comparison. I know that a moron like you lives in a fact free environment, but let’s do a checklist, just for the hell of it.

item SF TO
=====================================
health care none public
gay marriage none granted
pot legal no no, sort of
—————————————————————————
population 773,000 2,500,000
(so divide or multiply by 2.3 to get relative numbers below)
homicides 2009 99 69
homeless 7-10k 5k
—————————————————————————
avg houshold inc. $65,519 $64,123
avg home 2009 $479,000 $403,972
change prev year -13.4% +2%
—————————————————————————

So, basically, even though “Toronto the Good” is a cultural stick in the mud, over all it is a much more liveable, gentler, richer, and vastly more polite city than one of the crown jewels of the USA, SF CA.

You don’t like your neighbour? Then move, you idiot. There are lots of places to live. You’re a whiner and dick. If you, and I quote, “hate the mentality here” then fucking leave. Move to Detroit (or what’s left of it before they bulldoze the rest) or Dallas and tell me what kind of Nirvana you’ve found. If the USA isn’t for you, then move to fucking Sudbury or Calgary or Hamilton or some other shining star and see how you like it.

Stupid fucking asshole.

“Sorry.”

you say i’m a whiny asshole and yet that is all i got from you here.

you think legalizing weed is smart huh. for a factless asshole i know a little bit about criminology as it was my uni major. legalizing weed is irresponsible. a lot of people experience paranoia from its use. in its current status, there is less of the “come on everybody is doing it” as compared to drinking and smoking cigarettes. i would pity the kids who lived in a canada where it became officially legal to traffic and thus had that aura that cigarettes and alcohol have currently. i will tell you one thing, there would be a lot more cases of schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. the fact is in toronto it is now legal to possess but not to traffic. so presumably we must all become horticulturalists or we will continue to find chemically sprayed (pre- and post- grown) hydro weed. think that is good chemical compounds for the brain and body to break down. oh no…but toronto is sooooo progressive and free….we can smoke joints in front of cops. hey maybe we will end up like holland and all be pedo bears. wouldn’t that be great. nah. its bullshit. freedom made by morons is really shackles for the unfortunates who are not set up with the freedom in a responsible environment that they need.

i smoked a lot of bud in my life, i drink, and i’ve had a gun waved around in my face during an armed robbery. i don’t see the correlations that you are seeing from following statistics, which i thought were referred to as worse than damn lies.

be less hostile if you want to challenge me because at least then you will come off smug instead of this way where you appear desperate to prove a point even you aren’t so sure about.

gay marriage is great? ok…maybe. but if you don’t have responsible measures in place prior to that for adoption then you are doing a great disservice to everyone. it is known that two gay parents adopting children can often lead to sexual orientation issues for the kids. should they get marriage? ok sure. how about analyzing testosterone and estrogen levels in orphans and work on perfecting a science so that we can get the right kids into the right homes. i’m sure you dont see an issue here bc clearly you have made it far being confused in life.

health care in canada…it has only led to a major immigration issue. there has been an influx of refugees trying by any means necessary to get to canada to manipulate this part of our system specifically. should we want to help others in foreign countries? yes sure…but not at the expense and strain of our own system and citizens.

you see every decision toward freedom requires a great amount of discretion and preparation. canada has failed in this regard time and time again. they are more intent on standing out as being progressive. frankly i find it all ass backwards. the states will make it in the end. they have a big population to work with, it is diverse and there is a huge gap between rich and poor. they will make it even if you felt it necessary to bail out. a lot of draft dodging in nam went the same way. too bad bc the people of vietnam might have ended up like south koreans if it wasnt for whiny asshole american draft dodging pussies. but instead they are like north koreans.

so take you angle and try to find a way to shove it.

I consider my type to be more of a mediator…it frustrates me to have people trying to tip the scale their way all the time. it makes balance impossible. and balance is not some communist ideal unless it was a community of a single personality. which except in perhaps a star trek episode…it will not be.

I moved to Toronto from the States, been living here for a few years. I love this city. So many of these comments make it sound awful, but are you really that surprised that you’d run into douchebags in the Entertainment District along King? Are you really that surprised at all the hipsterbags running around because of the bohemian subculture that counterpoints the material obsessions of the financial core? You’re not desensitized to the gays after a few years of Pride and Church St. and you’re still living in constant fear of a bunghole invasion the moment you step out the door because all those dastardly fags are out there lusting after your special cherry ass?

Toronto is a city of all walks of life, a huge population mixed with all races, cultures, religions, and best of all, culinary tastes. No wait, best of all, gorgeous women. If all you see are the condos, ‘bags, and (gasp) gays, and it fills you with despair, then your fears are superficial for ignoring the genuine beauty of this city.

By all means, mock the douchebags. It’s fun and they deserve it. No, there is no short supply of them – for example, scroll up and read any two lines from CBS. But some of you commenters sound no better for blasting an entire city of millions of people because of a few dickheads. There’s a word for that. It’s called “Hypocrisy.” Get over it and improve. Because you can.

Oh, and stand back. The Kleenex Mafia douche splash on the left, his forehead’s getting bigger and lumpier and I think it’s about to explode.

8:44 am September, 30 CBS said...

yeah you’re right. the city isn’t that bad. there is a great diversity and therefore you have a better chance to find your way.

anyway…glenn beck is a catalyst for catastrophe and i suspect that his personal views betray his media personality. imagine you were paid a million bucks a year to be an inflammatory asshole and bigot.

i dont consider myself the same although many have told me to get a radio show. AS i said above, i consider myself more of a mediator. typically on issues there is deadlock and the majority stand on one side of an issue while the minority stand on the other. they froth at each other or ignore. I suppose by my standing in the middle and getting everyone riled up at least we get some action. the goal is to see the two groups descend upon me…get closer to the middle and thus get closer to me. somewhere in that mess, we will all get to see a great battle between two groups that were put face to face finally or we will get them finding common ground (in that they detest my ideas on principle…probably because they are the most rational, reasonable and responsible). it is great to start trouble and then have two short sighted and stubborn individuals find a new position closer to the balance. it happens and that is why i express myself. i shouldn’t have to be inflammatory and aggravating from the middle position on the spectrum yet amazingly in our society it often seems contradictory to be liberal in some ways and conservative in others. well how the hell are you going to adopt progressive balanced solutions if you are residing on either end of a spectrum or scale. that’s moronic. it isn’t a great idea to spit venom at each other or ignore each other when both sides need to be represented in an actual mutually appealing coordinated effort toward a truly representative solution.

i am working on a book right now. my ideas are there…from what would be considered homophobic, to anti-semetic, to misogynist to downright misanthropic. however, you dont know me that well yet. the ideas are written into the beliefs and dialogue of the “bad guys” in the story. the objective bad guys, the tyrants. the main hero of the story is a consensus building guy, someone that would not receive the kind of replies i have in my life from things i have written.

but i will keep writing because they are only necessarily my beliefs as a reaction to inaction and they can change as soon as others become more reasonable and truly engaging. by engaging i mean, equally responsive to the idea that they may need to change long held beliefs and opinions in light of a new perspective.

when my book is closer to complete perhaps i will load it online and provide a link here for you guys.

2:18 pm October, 1 Sir David Douchenborough said...

Wow, I leave for a couple of days and CBS swamps the thread with more unlettered diatribes and absurd strawmen. Spare me the faux objectivism and the self-aggrandizing prattle about ‘being a mediator.’ That is just predictable smokescreen to hide behind. There is nothing fair minded or middle ground about your bitter ranting about Canada, especially since you started off this free association adventure by laying the principal problems of Toronto to gays and immigrants and then proceeded to use that as a basis to indict Canada as being significantly flawed due to ‘unprepared’ progressivism. Too bad some states in America have already lifted the ban on gay adoption, maybe they were ‘confused throughout their life’ as well. Those courts in America sure are crazy.

Oh, and thank god you found damning evidence that gay adoption confounds children’s sexual orientation (even though that had nothing to do with Troy’s point, nice non sequitur). Be sure to inform the American Pscyhological Association as they have concluded that no sufficient evidence exists to for that claim and have catalogued research showing no significant difference between the different families.

But all that nonsense is besides the point because you exhibit so much confirmation bias, cognitive dissonance, and textbook examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect, it is a wonder you haven’t been diagnosed by anything under DSM-IV yet.

Troy’s point was fairly simple, in addition to laws, he showed that Toronto, by quantitative measures used to asses standard of living, was a better place to live than SF. He needn’t ‘see what you see’ as if though your personal perspective somehow provided some concrete evidence, he used descriptive statistics, yet you then proceeded to dismiss them by invoking a fallacy pertaining inferential statistics and repeating a popular tagline. Then, you immediately, citing your undergrad crim as an authority on public health and medical research, made definitive predictions and statements based on some research that employed both descriptive and inferential statistics. I had no idea that being so self-serving and selective was so ‘middle ground.’ Schizophrenia, by the way, has remained flat in the U.S., despite the increase pot use, so your prediction is useless. All that crap about “it is known” betrays your confirmation bias. At best, pot research has shown its effects are interactive with other existing risk factors or it is coincidental. So yes, pot worsens schizophrenia, but it is catalytic to those who develop due to family history and genetics. But no sufficient research has shown its effects de novo . If you want to take the schizophrenia websites who advance this notion and pile up almost every study under the sun with no scrutiny, being introverted also is inferred to be a cause. Judging from your efforts to sound convincing, I am guessing you did not review the literature properly. Googling a few studies does not count as any professor will tell you.

By the way, citing your undergrad in crim has much to do with your ability to comment on matters of public health and medicine as a biologist walking into a poli sci class and citing his knowledge on plant life history as qualification to comment on the political theory. It is typical to pick and choose studies to make an argument without evaluating its power or insight into the biological questions being asked. Luckily though, actual researchers tend to be more vigorous in their work before making an opinion.

And the immigrants ‘who drain our healthcare’ was a nice touch. To bad in Canada, our labor shortage has actually encouraged even the Conservative government to expand work programs for immigrants. But, it is nice to know that you would be even willing to marry an American so that they can have access to our system. That is not related at all to your lamentation of how ‘immigrants’ are gaming healthcare. It is one thing to criticize the immigration system, which needs reform, but it is another to reify and reduce immigrants to the “other” to attribute society’s ills.

No, CBS, the reason why you rub people the wrong way is not because you presumptuously think that you offer some clarity that challenges the ‘status quo.’ You are ardently obtuse and rationalize your own failings and prejudices only to project them onto other things and people. With a thought process like that, labeling others as smug and ‘confused’, it practically becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that people will confront you and your poor reasoning, but that is hardly because you stand as a ‘mediator’ between extremes.

You stand as a bitter, self-loathing individual who always will see that the grass is greener on the other side and continue in this warped demagoguery of being the messenger of some sort of undiscovered truth (littered with metaphors of course). It is that type of mentality why the Conservative movement has no resemblance of Toryism anymore in Canada. They are too busy fawning at whatever Karl Rove, the GOP, and The Enterprise Institute come up with and trying to implement its variants up here. You are exactly the product of what George Grant predicted when it came to Canada being engulfed with continentalism. If you had a sense of history, you would know that Canada has dealt with immigration questions before. You description of Toronto is nothing more than caricature to suit your own arguments and a tiresome tilting at favourite windmills of reactionaries who construct their version of the ‘status quo’ so they can beat it down every time in abortive attempts to prove they know what the ‘extremes’ don’t. That is far easier than openly addressing your own emotions and fears.

Get over yourself.
